I am a the tale of a castle,
Hiding stories within its rooms,
Of queens, kings, wizard and magicians,
Soldiers and their armour room.
The moon shifts above me,
As every turn reveals a scene.
To play with the old, to make some new -
Something borrowed, something blue.

The Castle Carousel reimagines fortresses not as static spaces, but as moving parts within a tangible tale. Its form emerges from lore and the grandeur of royal times, where architecture and narrative rise together.
More than a toy, it becomes a theatre of possibility, where every spin reshapes the fairytale and every play invents a new story.

Characters appear as peg dolls, reinterpreted in fabric and thread, their hidden magnets allowing them to stand, shift, and perform across the stage. Moons intersect with arches, towers meet shifting landscapes — each element designed to be rearranged.

The language of the characters were inspired from peg dolls, which are simple forms painted in wood. We translated that into textile, shaping scrap fabrics into bodies, adding threadwork to give each of them a personality.
Herin, our designer who conceptualized this project - had developed a very interesting story of a soldier and his treachery, who is about to shoot the king from the back. We were very intentional about adding this aspect of play - but having magnets to rearrange the characters - we want to evoke imagination, fantasy and all the million stories that one could create & play.

A tale of kingdoms, moving in turns
And of secrets within a castle’s walls
Of a sorceress and her four moons
Of a king and his owl that spoke.
I was built for imagination
I was built for fantasy play
Spin me once, I tell a tale.
Spin me twice and I change.
