Once a symbol of the country’s richness, the golden sparrow here becomes a carousel: a moving object that reflects on what has always been golden for us. Not metal or ornament, but the deeper wealth of craft and culture.
The people, their hands, and their ways of making remain the truest abundance.

And yet, the most interesting narratives are hidden in the coins.
Every person at SHED and our creative partners from far and wide were invited to contribute to this, with their vision and representation of ‘The Golden Bird’. From ancient Mohurs to Knotting techniques, Brahmakamals to Benarasi Weaving - the piece is filled with conversations that one can spend hours on.’
